Casualties in the orchid house

Stupid insects and their ugly caterpillars. Look what they did.

About 25 of my hybrid phals were attacked and chewed up by dozens of hairy caterpillars when I was on holiday. Thought I had picked off all of them when I came back but apparently a few remained hidden away and laid waste to the remaining plants. No one watered them when I was away either.

I’ve taken any remaining survivors out of the pots and mounted them onto a piece of tree fern trunk instead. I really do not like using chemicals, in this case I got no choice but to resort to Malathion or some other bug killer.
