Buttress roots of a tropical giant
These are the buttress roots of a huge tropical tree species. Can you guess which one? More clues - it’s an emergent species that stands out among all other giants because of its colour and beautiful crown of fine leaves. Found in the lowlands as well as lower hill/mountain slope forests, it ranks among the world’s tallest tropical tree species.
This beautiful tree, which is sometimes found as a solitary giant in secondary forests and farmlands, is my favourite tropical tree.
(Hint: important clue in the previous sentence!)
