Photo outing on new year’s day: yellow mushroom

yellow_mushroom_2
While walking along the trail, I spotted this strikingly coloured mushroom on a rotting log. Think I’ve come across this kind before on one of my previous outings. Saw an entire tree covered with them; very striking when the sunlight hit them from above, like little lanterns glowing by the hundreds. But only found one on this rotting log.

No insects, striking colour, most probably very poisonous!

Looks as if the mushroom is a little lantern illuminating that dead leaf under it.

Mushroom superstar!

Taking shots of that yellow mushroom while lying across the trail (see my wordless wednesday post below).

These shots were all taken with a Samsung EX1 compact camera. Didn’t feel like lugging along a heavy camera this trip!

that camera looks like it handles low light well. i need to look for another compact camera that does that. my little cybershot just takes like 6 shots and stacks them for a stable picture in low light. it works well but its time consuming.

@Chris, it's got a fast lens and handles well but it is still a compact so don't expect miracles :-)
